PRAY & DONATE

A universal prayer for a rich and good life

"Thanks for everything.

I want better."

This is not a religious pray. More like asking more better things from the universe which you are part of, too. Ask from it as how you want to asked from you. Repeat this whenever you want.

I don't put any ads on my page... if you wish you can make a donation here:

Who are the Essenes? What do they believe in?

The Essenes were a Jewish religious sect that emerged in the 2nd century BCE and thrived during the 1st century CE. They are known primarily through historical accounts and the discovery of ancient texts, particularly the Dead Sea Scrolls found in the mid-20th century.

The Essenes believed in a strict and ascetic way of life, emphasizing spiritual purity, communal living, and devotion to religious practices. They withdrew from mainstream society and established their own communities, often in remote areas such as Qumran near the Dead Sea.

Here are some key beliefs and practices associated with the Essenes:

Communal Living: The Essenes lived in communal settlements, sharing resources and responsibilities. They practiced a form of collective ownership, with individuals surrendering their personal belongings to the community.

Spiritual Purity: The Essenes placed great emphasis on personal and ritual purity. They believed in rigorous practices to maintain spiritual cleanliness, including daily immersion in ritual baths and strict dietary regulations.

Messianic Expectations: The Essenes held messianic beliefs and anticipated the arrival of a future messiah who would bring about a time of peace, justice, and the ultimate redemption of Israel.

Scripture Study: The Essenes dedicated themselves to the study and interpretation of religious texts. They regarded the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) as sacred and also had their own unique writings, some of which were discovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Esoteric Knowledge: The Essenes believed in the existence of secret or hidden knowledge that provided deeper insights into spiritual matters. They practiced mystical and esoteric traditions, exploring angelology, astrology, and other metaphysical subjects.

Nonviolence: The Essenes adhered to pacifism and renounced violence. They abstained from warfare and actively promoted peaceful resolutions to conflicts.

It's important to note that our understanding of the Essenes is based on limited historical sources, including the accounts of ancient writers like Philo of Alexandria and Josephus, as well as the discovered manuscripts. While some details may vary among sources, the general picture of the Essenes portrays a devoted, separatist Jewish sect with a strong emphasis on spiritual purity, communal living, and esoteric knowledge.
